Humane Educators of Texas strives to change the public opinion of Animal Control Officers from simple dogcatchers to dignified and respectable professionals who serve as resources to their communities for animal related issues. We are excited to provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through innovative and interactive classes that engage students in learning, and facilitate the sharing of information between agencies.
We are also committed to shortening the gap between law enforcement and animal control by providing police officers with the basics of animal handling skills and an understanding of animal behavior. Encounters with animals by law enforcement have the potential to be officer safety issues, as well as damage community relationships. Our goal is to provide officers with knowledge that will help keep them and the animals they interact with safe.
Our instructors have over 35 years combined experience in the animal welfare field and are ready to share their knowledge with you!
We love to hear feedback, ideas for classes and especially stories about life in the trenches.
It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce our temporary closure due to the COVID-19 emergency. Our local county and the counties surrounding us have implemented a "Shelter at Home" order and this requires us to cancel classes and close our doors until APRIL 13.
We are still available by phone and email, so if you need anything, please reach out to us!
During this time of uncertainty, being a small business owner is scary! Our main source of income are the classes we teach and this closure will certainly make an impact on our business, but there are ways you can help us stay afloat!
We have an online store with lots of things available for purchase, including gift certificates, our new law book, and ACO shirts and decals! We also have our classes for April, May, and June posted and we are taking registrations for those classes now!
Thank you for your support in this difficult time. We hope to see everyone soon.
